What is WonHundred Word Wednesdays? It’s when a group of amazing authors and I write 100 word stories all based on the same short prompt and post them. All the variations are fun to read. Here is my entry for the week.
As he took in the view from the twentieth floor, the lights went out all over the city. He swore quietly. They’d followed him. Even here, amidst eight million people, they’d followed.
He fumbled for his candles and matches. Surely they couldn’t screw with these simple tools. The match snapped as he struck it. The curses weren’t under his breath anymore as he tried again for light.
Finally a flame sparked. He screamed the wan glow illuminated a grinning gremlin. The match dropped, thankfully snuffing out instead of igniting in the carpet.
“Hello, Jack,” a voice rasped into the darkness.
