Snow Spirits

The footprints in the snow suddenly ended

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.

Clouds swirled overhead and drums beat in the dim light. Erasa’s hurried steps crunched compacting the snow further. She was late and her eyes were frozen on the trail cut previously.

The footprints in the snow suddenly ended. She rubbed her hands frowning. The drums echoed maddeningly off the valley’s walls. No help there.

“I know which way they went.” The voice whispered. Spinning, Erasa watched the snow spiral.

Great. A snow spirit. “Which way?”

The swirl of snow moved against the wind. “That way.”

“Thanks.” Erasa headed the opposite direction. Snow spirits. It should’ve known she wouldn’t trust it.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
