Harried

He had an hour to get home

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. I hope you enjoy this week’s contribution.

Hallstienn veered as hoodlums dived before him. He could take a hit, but not Cireg. He’d escaped with the Cireg and arrived home mostly unscathed, to have children harry him? No.

There was an hour, at most, before the first emergence in a decade. The wailing of the last hatchling dying of chill echoed in his mind. Without the Cireg present that would repeat. No, not again.

Halting his glider, Hallstienn threw his cloak aside. “I’m Flame Priest Hallstienn. Plague me no further.” Power radiated out, multiplied by the Cireg. The heat struck the hoodlums, shoving them from the sky.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
