Melli gnawed her lip as she dusted keeping her back to the chamber. The dusty, old book was sitting there, just begging to be read.
Clicking her tongue, she glanced behind her. Why’d he left it out again? Snapped her head back, she focused on her work. Quicker done, quicker away.
“Is that your true wish? Mundane work?”
Spinning Melli, raised her hand to her chest. The room was still empty at least. “Stop that. I shouldn’t hear you.”
“But you do.” The disembodied voice replied.
“I don’t like it.”
If a book could chuckle, it was. “Like means nothing.”
