Mirror Twins

The boy hadn't spoken since his twin had gone

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. This month is NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) and my story comes from the universe of the book I’m working on. How it connects I won’t say, but I hope you enjoy this week’s contribution.

Gaodan grabbed the boy’s chin. The eyes remained vacant unseeing. Unseeing here at least.

“It happens. Minds get lost in the mirror bonding,” the hedge wizard said.

Gaodan straightened, keeping his expression neutral. “We picked twins to prevent this happening. Get her out of here.” One of his thugs drug her out over her shrill protests.

He turned Edgard, his left hand now. “This happens when Red’s already gone?”

Edgard shrugged slowly, tilting his head in thought. “Westergras is far away.” The accusation hung between them.

“Get out,” Gaodan growled. Edgard left leaving Gaodan to worry for his friend alone.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
