Bargain

I knew what I'd done as soon as the door closed

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. I hope you enjoy this week’s contribution.

I ignored the circling warriors crossing the chamber’s threshold. I clutched the beacon as the door clicked locked. “I would bargain with Geltrude.”

The circles drew closer, an intricate, mesmerizing dance as men wove unhesitating about each other and me. But I couldn’t be distracted. “I would bargain with Geltrude.”

“A weak hand,” a warrior said breaking formation to stalking toward me and yanked the beacon away and it died plunging the room into semidarkness.

I blinked my night vision contacts active as laughter rebounded from the walls. “You keyed. Wise or foolish depending on the key.” Geltrude at last.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.

Also, if you’re looking for short stories, be sure to check out Writers of the Future Volume 34 which just released this week. I finished reading the book this week and the stories are fantastic. You can find the book through Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
