Shrouded

She chased it, forlorn

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. I hope you enjoy this week’s contribution.

Fog curled around Dijana shrouding her goal and footing. Hands stinging after finding yet another root, mud and grass joined that already dotting her skit and she shoved herself to her feet.

Glancing behind the shadow still paced her. “Kore,” she cried. The fog spread further through her lungs with her breathe. The tendrils chilling and spreading. Her feet drug as her heart raced.

Stumbling again she fell to the ground, her limbs refusing to move under the fog weight. “Kore.” The name a whisper of sound.

A hand grasped her shoulder. “Wake, Dij.” The voice whispered as she screamed.

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
