Knocking

A stranger was knocking at the door

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. I hope you enjoy this week’s contribution.

Holding the curtain, I glanced below. A man stood at the door, half obscured from my vantage point.

“Who is it?” Gavriel said behind me.

“No one I know.” Letting the curtain go, I turned back. Gavriel was hunched over his beakers.

He scowled without looking up. “Get rid of them.”

I nodded and hurried downstairs. The knocking matching my gait. Cracking the door, I scowled at the man. “Go away, the professors busy.”

His foot was between the door and frame before I could react. “I must speak with him before–” An explosion rumbled above. “It’s too late.”

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
