Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. Here’s my contribution.
As the lock cycled, Jany felt air rush past. Stepping forward, she felt the gravity deteriorating as she entered the tethered ship. Her helmet’s light swept over the corridor, illuminating details as fuzzy as memory.
“Jany?” Phip asked over the link. “Is it the ship?”
She paused at a portrait. “Yeah, Phip.” She blinked at sudden tears. “We did.”
As she drifted further in she heard voices. Shoving forward she raced for the living quarters, protected from intrusive external scans.
Crumpling, she clicked the link off. Only a recording of her parents arguing greeted her. On a loop. Too late.
Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
