Dissonant

It was as if she didn't understand the concept of "shut up"

Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write as part of a group based on the same short prompt and post them. Here’s my contribution.

Pushing Deena to the wall I shielded her from sight with my bulk. covering her mouth with my hand. Still, she continued murmuring even muffled, belying this as a lover’s rendezvous. Unless I was incompetent. I’m not.

They bought it. Their footsteps squelched away through the uncobbled street’s muck. I stepped away. “What was that, Elroi?” Shrill indignation carried her voice. Lords, didn’t she know quiet?

“Are you trying to get us caught?” I glanced over my shoulder. They couldn’t have missed that.

I staggered forward when weight struck my head, the world tilting. “Actually, yes,” she said. “I am.”

Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
