Welcome to Wednesday’s flash fiction wherein I write, as part of a group, a flash fiction based on the same short prompt and post the story. I hope you enjoy this week’s contribution.
“Well, huh,” I rubbed my face as Jake shoved his pa roughly with his boot. Nothing.
He scowled at the man. “Now what?”
I gnawed at my cheek looking up. We’d minutes before the Hira-Back Industrial ships showed and no luck, no chemicals, and a busted ship. Even Jake’s pa’d the audacity to die instead of negotiating more time on our contract.
Harrumphing I looked down as the lights flickered again and gasped. “You look like him.”
“What?” Jake said scratching his nose. “No, I don’t.”
“Flickering lights and shoddy com system.” I shrugged apologetically. “What other chance we got?”
Don’t forget to read the other’s takes on the prompt. More stories go up throughout the day. Be sure to check our page on Facebook for updates as everything becomes available: WonHundred Words.
